AGENDA DE SALUD 2009-2018 para Centroamérica y República Dominicana
Washington, DC. PAHO HQ. Febrero 19, 2009.- Presentación de la Agenda de Salud 2009-2018 para Centroamérica y República Dominicana, por la Coordinadora de la Unidad de Atención Centrada en los Países (D/CFS), Dra. Mariela Licha Salomón.
La constitución de esta agenda de salud según la Dra. Licha muestra un avance en el sistema de integración de Centroamérica, en el fortalecimiento integracional como región, con instancias políticas, instituciones, sector salud, sector social, con el objetivo de orientar el plan de Salud Subregional y lograr una efectiva alineación y armonización de los socios nacionales e internacionales en función de los objetivos estratégicos regionales y en el marco de los Objetivos de Desarrollo del Milenio, añadió.
Por su parte la Directora de la OPS, Dra. Mirta Roses concluyó señalando que cada vez nos acercamos más metodológicamente a las necesidades y pensamiento centroamericano, y la identificación de proyectos de cooperación más concretos hacia las necesidades más apremiantes de nuestras poblaciones con el desafío que enfrentamos hoy sobre la protección social en salud.

World No-Tobacco Day 2002 Awards: Call for nominations
“World No-Tobacco Day” 2002 (WNTD) will be held on May 31st. The theme this year is Tobacco Free Sports and the slogan is Play it Clean. The goal is to highlight the incongruity of tobacco’s association with sport as well as the need to eliminate the promotion of tobacco products through tobacco sponsorship of sports figures, events, and facilities.(8/Mar/2002)

Este informe, publicado en formato electrónico solamente, es un análisis de la legislación en materia de lesiones no intencionales. Las lesiones no intencionales obedecen a un conjunto de circunstancias y factores sociales, educativos, ambientales, económicos, culturales, políticos, urbanísticos y jurídicos. El objetivo del presente trabajo es estudiar el elemento jurídico mediante el análisis de la legislación vigente en los diferentes países de América Latina y el Caribe en materia de tránsito, prevención de caídas, quemaduras y ahogamientos, y el sistema atributivo de responsabilidad aplicable.(28/Mar/2004)

La OPS en colaboración otras agencias organizó una reunión de expertas para establecer los componentes clave de leyes y políticas sobre violencia de género, la cual generó propuesta de referencia para diseñar, implementar, dar seguimiento y evaluar las leyes y políticas públicas sobre violencia intrafamiliar contra las mujeres. International Health Regulations: Working Paper for Regional Consultations
Since 1995, WHO has been working on a revision of the International Health Regulations that would address the ever-changing unpredictable problem of the international spread of disease. WHO has now produced a working paper containing a preliminary draft of the proposed revisions. During the first half of 2004, national governments and international bodies will carefully review this draft. The results of this review will form the basis of an amended draft to be put to an International Working Group (IGWG) planned for November 2004. At this IGWG, Member States will be asked to endorse a final draft to be presented to the World Health Assembly in 2005 for adoption.(15/Dec/2003)

Clearing the Air Contest
PAHO/WHO is inviting nominations from the Region of the Americas for the "Clearing the Air" competition in conjunction with World No Tobacco Day, May 31st, 2001. On May 31st PAHO/WHO will recognize governments, mayors, institutions and individuals who have made a significant contribution to "clearing the air" of tobacco smoke in their communities.(9/Mar/2001)

International Health Regulations (IHR)
The International Health Regulations are an international legal instrument that covers measures for preventing the transnational spread of infectious diseases. The newly adopted IHR (2005) has as purpose and scope “to prevent, protect against, control and provide a public health response to the international spread of disease in ways that are commensurate with and restricted to public health risks, and which avoid unnecessary interference with international traffic and trade”.
