Meeting of the Task Force on Surveillance for Emerging and Re-emerging Infectious Diseases (Toronto, 13-14 November 1996)
This document describes the meeting held to examine the conditions for surveillance, response and prevention of outbreaks of emerging infectious diseases in Latin America and to define priorities for technical cooperation. Priority areas for this were identified whereby stressing the need of implementing adequate surveillance systems to monitor public health problems. Anti-microbial drug resistance was considered one of the most alarming threats among other problems presented.   (30/Oct/1996)
