Chinches, or the species of triatomines found in El Salvador (Triatoma dimidiata and Rhodnius prolixus) are the insects that transmit Chagas disease. Knowing how to identify and avoid them is crucial—especially for children, who are the most likely victims. The two above posters are aimed at educating the public of all ages, though mostly children in elementary schools (who in turn share what they have learned with the rest of their family). These materials were produced by the Ministry of Public Health and Social Assistance (Ministerio de Salud Pública y Asistencia Social / MSPAS) of El Salvador as part of the collaboration project with PAHO and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), with the framework of the Initiative of the Countries of Central America to Interrupt the Vectoral and Transfusional Transmission of Chagas Disease (IPCA) .
